Rules & Consequences Chart For Kids

This chart comes in handy when you have kids around the house.

Hang it up and it tells exactly what kind of consequence there is going to be for breaking a rule.

This one is set up for my son, but you could alter it to make it fit your kids.

When you first print it out, sit down with your kid(s) and go over each rule and it’s consequence for breaking them.  Fully explain your expectations and ask if your kid has questions.  After they are all explained and no more questions are in the air, have your child(ren) sign and date the form at the bottom.  Remind them, if they need reminding, that their signature doesn’t mean they “agree” with the rules and consequences.  That’s not for them to decide.  Signing is a guarantee from them that they understand all the rules and their consequences.  This is to ensure later when they get in trouble that they can’t come back and say “but I didn’t understand that rule”.

I usually let each chart hang up for 1 year before I alter it to fit any new rules and or consequences that need to be changed.  Then I re-print then go over it again and have him sign it again.  I also recommend putting the form in a plastic sleeve and hang it up somewhere handy.  When the child get’s in trouble all you have to say is “Go grab the rules chart please.”.
