Yummy NO BAKE Cookies

These are super easy to make and great tasting.  This is an amazing recipe to make with children.

  1. Add the first four ingredients into a 4-quart sauce pan.
  2. Bring to a rolling boil and hold for 1 minute.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Add peanut butter into the hot mixture and stir until melted.
  5. Add in vanilla. (almond extract is good also, but I only use 1/2 teaspoon almond and 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla).
  6. Mix in the oats and drop by tablespoons onto wax paper.
  7. Let cool until set. (You can place them in the fridge.)
  8. *Please remember that even if you do follow the recipe exactly, it doesn’t always turn out just right. I have had these not set up for me AND be hard and dry. But most of the time, the recipe is just right. I have also found that it makes a difference if you use quick cooking oats or old fashioned. In my experience it takes more old fashioned oats than quick cooking and I like the texture of the quick cooking better. When you make it a few hundred times like I have you learn a couple of things:) Also, Chunky peanut butter tends to make them more dry and crumbly.

Make a Tasty Watermelon Keg!

Today is Tasty Tuesday and MoneyMamma101 is back to show you how to make your very own Watermelon Keg.  Impress your friends with this easy and cheap party keg.  Or if you want it for your little ones just leave out the alcohol and fill it with tummy yummy punch (recipe below).  Here’s the how to:

Step 1:  Scrub your watermelon.  Make sure the surface is clean and dirt free.  Pat it dry with a towel.

Step 2:  Draw a circle around the top end of the watermelon where you will cut the lid off.  This should be about 6 inches down from the center of the crown.

Step 3:  Slice the top of the watermelon with a large knife to remove the lid portion.  Use the draw line from step 2 as a reference.

Step 4:  Use a large spoon or ice cream scoop to remove the inside “flesh” of the watermelon and set aside for later.  Be sure not to dig into the rind. Only remove the red flesh part.

Step 5:  Create a hole towards the bottom of the watermelon for the Faucet.  It’s best to make your hole a tad smaller than the diameter of the faucet you buy.  I use an apple corer.  Try not to make the hole bigger than the faucet or your keg will leak.

Step 6:  Insert your Keg Faucet into the hole you just created. (If you don’t have a faucet you can get a cheap one here.)

Step 7:  Fill the watermelon keg with your favorite recipe.

Make Your Own Dog Treats

Home Made Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

With all the sickness going around from store bought dog treats, I’ve been making my own. My dogs LOVE these and surprisingly they were easy to make.  You can get creative and make your own shapes by hand.  You can use cookie cutters, play-dough shape cutters, dog bone shape cutters, etc.  What ever your mind can think up.  Here’s the how to:

1 3/4 cup flour
1 cup milk
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1/4 cup wheat germ
1 cup peanut butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Thoroughly combine all ingredients. On a floured surface, knead dough until smooth. Roll out to 1/2″ thickness and use cookie cutter(s) of your choice to make dog treat shapes. Bake on a greased cookie sheet for 20 minutes. Let cool before allowing your dog(s) to try one.

MoneyMamma101 is back again with Tasty Tuesday!

Today I will be sharing one of my favorite recipes.  Rainbow Bars!

They take 5 minutes to make, in your microwave (or you can use a saucepan on the stove).
NOTE: I doubled the recipe to fill one large jelly roll pan (cookie sheet).

1/4 cup butter (1/2 a cube)
1 package mini marshmallow (or about 6 cups)
8 cups of cereal

Microwave the marshmallows and butter in a large bowl for 2 minutes till melted and stir it up. Some of the butter may not mix-in all the way. No worries.
• Pour in the cereal and mix
• Spread it on cookie sheet that has been sprayed with non-stick spray or butter. Spray a little on your hands to help spread it around without getting sticky goo all over you.
• Refrigerate till ready to serve

Cut into bars or squares.

Strawberry-Kiwi Yogurt Freezer Pops

These are so cute and colorful! The kiwi in the bottom of the cup not only adds more fruit and color to the freezer pop, it also holds the stick in place.

Minutes to Prepare: 5
Number of Servings: 4

1/2 cup fat-free Greek yogurt
4 strawberries
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 kiwi, peeled and slice into 4 circles
4 (3 fluid ounce) paper or plastic cups
4 wooden craft sticks

Puree the yogurt, strawberries, and orange juice in a blender.
Place one slice of kiwi in the bottom of each cup. Divide the berry puree among the four cups, then insert a stick into the center of each cup (press the stick into the kiwi to hold it in place). Freeze for 3 hours, then serve. To remove the freezer pops from the cups, snip the top rim of the cup with scissors.
